Frenchie Friday: Pass the Cheese Please

Posted by on Jul 26, 2013 in Foodie Advice, Frenchie Fridays | 15 comments

It’s Friday, my favorite day of the week, and the day I get to talk about France AND gear up for Beth Fish’s #Weekend Cooking! So I had my anniversary last week and I spent the whole week with my face smashed against the glass porch door waiting. Waiting for one of my favorite gifts to arrive–a large package of stinky, scrumptious, flavorful French cheese! These cheeses are delivered via UPS straight from France and Fromages.com. They have a cheese library, a monthly cheese,...

Posted by on Jun 28, 2013 in Frenchie Fridays | 7 comments

I’ve been wading through edits and cranking on my second novel so I haven’t had much time to read, but come end of summer, I’m ALL OVER THESE novels. I thought I’d share my list with fellow Francofiles and just all around France worshippers like myself! There’s a little something for everyone–a romance suspense, a YA novel, a mystery, and a historical. Are there novels about France or French characters you can’t wait to read? Please share in the...

It’s an annual celebration and this year marks the 25th birthday. The...

Frenchie Friday: A Dreamy Island or Ile Flottante

Posted by on May 31, 2013 in Foodie Advice, Frenchie Fridays | 12 comments

It’s Frenchie Friday and Beth Fish’s #WeekendCooking and I’m dreaming about being on an island…of dessert. Something sinful, yet light. Something pretty and luscious. A dish that happens to be in my novel, BECOMING JOSEPHINE. It’s beautiful, decadent, and you’ll want to get to making it RIGHT NOW. Just be forewarned–you’re going to wish you had a bathtub of sauce to swim in. Ingredients: For creme anglaise: 6 large egg yolks 2/3 cup sugar 1 1/2...

Frenchie Friday: Meals by Class Aboard 1920’s Oceanliners

Posted by on Apr 26, 2013 in Author Interviews, Foodie Advice, Frenchie Fridays | 10 comments

For Frenchie Friday and Beth Fish’s #WeekendCooking, Dana Gynther, author of CROSSING ON THE PARIS (Titanic meets Downton Abbey), talks about all that food aboard the oceanliner in her novel. Take it away, Dana! ONE OF THE DELIGHTS of writing “Crossing on the Paris,”  set on a French Line ocean liner in 1921, was imagining the passengers’ meals.  I confess, I spent far more time than was necessary researching antique steamer menus for sale on Ebay, from handwritten ones from the...
